This was my favorite home from the December issue of Living Etc. The earthy green sofa's are what sold me before I even had a chance to take in the rest of the abode. Another big sell were the ceiling beams. I find that beams like these can either close a space in or really make it come together. The case here is most definitely the latter. Another great feature are the pale walls with the subtle hint of beige. The technique used in the painting of them almost makes them look like bare concrete walls.
The property in which this home is housed has been in the Zappon family forever. Erik's father ran a grocer's shop on the ground floor and Erik and his siblings lived amongst the apartments scattered throughout. The overhaul was a process to say the least. Before even tackling the apartments, all plumbing had to be replaced, decades old window frames had to be repaired and the staircase leading to the apartments renovated. The renovation of Zappon & Sön's place alone, took seven years.
So all in all, as with most great home renovations that take years to complete, this one was well worth the wait!
To a job well done!
